Will architectural window film affect my view or natural light?
Architectural window film from XPEL Vision and Madico is available in a wide range of visible light transmission (VLT) levels — from nearly clear to highly reflective. Most solar films maintain excellent outward visibility while significantly reducing heat and UV. Reforma Design will help you select the right VLT level for your specific windows and goals.
Is architectural window film different from automotive tint?
Yes — architectural window film is specifically engineered for flat glass and does not shrink, bubble, or cause thermal stress cracking over time. Automotive tint is not designed for flat pane windows and can cause glass damage. XPEL Vision and Madico architectural films used by Reforma Design are rated specifically for residential and commercial flat glass applications.
How long does XPEL Vision window film last?
XPEL Vision Architectural Window Film is backed by a comprehensive manufacturer performance warranty and typically lasts 15–20 years with proper installation and care. Madico window film products carry similar long-term performance warranties.
Can window film be applied to double-pane or triple-pane glass?
Yes — XPEL Vision and Madico architectural films are compatible with most double-pane and triple-pane glass. Reforma Design assesses your windows during the free site visit to confirm the right film type for your specific glazing system and avoid any risk of seal failure or thermal stress.
How long does window film installation take?
Most residential window film installations by Reforma Design are completed in a single day. Larger commercial projects — such as full building façades, office floors, or retail storefronts — vary in timeline depending on scope and square footage.
Will window film reduce my energy bills?
Yes — architectural window film reduces solar heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter, lowering the load on your HVAC system year-round. This can meaningfully reduce energy costs for both residential and commercial properties across Metro Vancouver.
Can window film prevent furniture and flooring from fading?
Yes — XPEL Vision Architectural Window Film blocks 99% of UV-A and UV-B rays, which are the primary cause of fading in furniture, flooring, artwork, and fabrics. Installing window film is one of the most cost-effective ways to protect your interior finishes from sun damage.
What is security window film and how does it work?
Security window film is a heavy-duty protective film applied to glass that holds shattered pieces in place in the event of breakage — whether from accidental impact, attempted break-in, or extreme weather. Reforma Design installs security film from XPEL and Madico in thicknesses ranging from 8 to 15 mil, suitable for residential, retail, and commercial properties across Metro Vancouver.
Does window film change the appearance of my windows from the outside?
This depends on the film type selected. Solar films range from nearly clear to lightly reflective. Decorative and privacy films can create frosted or mirrored effects. Reforma Design will provide samples and renderings to help you visualize the result before installation.
Does Reforma Design serve North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Coquitlam for window tinting?
Yes — Reforma Design installs XPEL Vision and Madico architectural window film across all of Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, including North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Langley, Delta, New Westminster, and Maple Ridge.
Is clear protective film visible once applied?
No — Reforma Design’s clear protective film is optically transparent and virtually invisible once applied to a surface. It preserves the natural colour, texture, and appearance of the underlying material without any visible film line under normal viewing conditions.
Does clear protective film prevent wine and food stains on stone surfaces?
Yes — clear protective film creates a sealed barrier over porous stone surfaces such as marble, granite, and C-Quartz, preventing liquids like red wine, cooking oils, coffee, and sauces from penetrating the stone. This makes spill cleanup effortless and significantly reduces the risk of permanent staining.
What surfaces can Reforma Design’s protective film be applied to?
Reforma Design’s clear protective film can be applied to any smooth, sealed surface, including marble, granite, C-Quartz, engineered stone, lacquered wood, stainless steel, and other polished metal finishes. It is ideal for countertops, dining tables, coffee tables, elevator interiors, reception desks, fridges, and other high-value surfaces.
Is clear protective film removable without damaging the surface?

How long does clear protective film last?
Reforma Design’s TPU protective film is engineered for long-term durability. With normal use and proper maintenance, the film resists yellowing, cracking, and edge lifting. Lifespan varies depending on the surface type, usage, and cleaning habits. We will advise on expected longevity for your specific application during the site visit.
Does Reforma Design offer surface protection for commercial properties in Burnaby and Richmond?
Yes — Reforma Design provides clear protective film installation for commercial properties across Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, including Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, New Westminster, Langley, Delta, and Maple Ridge.

How do I clean a surface that has protective film applied?
Surfaces with Reforma Design’s protective film applied should be cleaned with a soft cloth or microfibre pad and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals, steel wool, or abrasive scrubbing pads, as these can scratch the film surface or lift the edges over time.
Is surface protection film a good investment for rental properties in Metro Vancouver?
Yes — clear protective film is an excellent investment for rental properties in Metro Vancouver. It protects high-value stone, wood, and metal surfaces from tenant wear, staining, and scratches, reduces turnover cleaning time between tenants, and can be removed cleanly when no longer needed. It is a low-cost way to preserve the condition and value of your investment property.
